Graduation!

I'm so proud of my son Benji. This morning we went to school for his graduation.Daddy couldn't come because he's at work, But Ayleen, Leire and I went to cheer for him and to show how very proud we are that he worked so hard this year. I love you Benji.

Happy Birthday Benji!!

My sweet Benji turned four. He got a special breakfast in bed, with his favorite; pancakes!
These pictures are taken on the morning of his birthday. Ayleen was very excited about it and thought we were singing Happy Birthday to her.!!
As a present he got a nice lunch bag and water bottle which he's very happy about and now he's running out of places to hide it from his little sister. She's such a little "Scott the Puppy".
My prayer for you, my boy.
That you will love the Lord more this year than the last.
That you'll keep growing, learning and discovering more about the beautiful world we live in.
That you never loose those dreamy eyes... I know they are going far.

Benji's Birthday

That's Benji turning three.
Since daddy isn't home we decided to just do a special breakfasts and celebrate when we are all together. He's a real character. He's an Aquarius. The most stubborned baby I have yet seen.
This morning everyone in the home went up to my bedroom to sing him "Happy Birthday " while he got his traditional breakfast in bed. Other years we've done it just our little family, but this time, I was quite surprised at his reaction. He curled up in a corner between the pillows and didn't even want to blow out his candle, his dear brother didn't mind helping with that.
I'm positive that if it wasn't because there was people all around he would have tried to hide somewhere.
I was quite disappointed myself since his "birthday" was turning out rather different then the perfect replay I had envisioned in my head.
Once every one left he was himself again and happily open his gifts.
I guess the moral of the story is things don't alway play out the way you imagined them, and in those times when you want everything to be perfect, sometimes it doesn't happen that way, but it can still be special; it doesn't have to be perfect to be special.

Later on, I was feeling a bit bummed out about it, thinking that the only special thing I was gonna do for him on his birthday, breakfast, was a flop, and the Lord reminded me of that story in LOG #2 , when he's turning 9 or 8 and his friends get together and organize a surprise BD party. His reaction to the lights turning on and the cheering and Happy Birthday song is to run away and hide for the rest of the day. I'm sure glad Benji didn't do that. :D

Why?

Benji has oficially started his why stage. If I tell him to do something or I ask for his help and he turns around, looks at me with his big brown eyes, and asks me why?.
His talking is a lot more clear and thankfully I'm no longer the only one that can understand when he talks, poor baby, he would often get frustrated because no one could make out what he was saying. It was a bit of a guessing game. He really wants to talk more but still has some difficulty pronouncing some of the phonics. But progress is progress and I'm sure happy he's making it. As a parent and teacher you realize all your kids are different, they all will eventually learn to talk and learn to ask when they need to use the bathroom, and they all will eventually learn to read, but at their own pace, preasure doesn't help a bit when it comes down to learning to things. You can't compare one of your child's progress with another, just like the Lord doesn't compare your progress against the progress of another one of His Children. Thankfully He takes us where we are at and slowly and patiently shows us the road, much like a parent with his kids.
