A little miracle of the Lord's Love

Once more, I can say that the Lord is always so faithful to provide for His own.
He suplied this nice baby bed for Ayleen, the first of our kids to have a crib.
I think she likes it.

Chicken Pox

Alex came down with chicken pox out of the blue and totally unexpected.
He wasn't feeling sick or anything.
In the afternoon I noticed he had, what I concluded to be some mosquito bites, but by night time he had a lot more of them all over his body, and some of them were starting to have a little water inside. He didn't want to stay in bed during the day, he was pretty upbeat about it ,but by the evening he had droopy eyes and was asking me if he could go to bed. He had a rough night. We put socks on his hands so he wouldn't scratch. Prayers appreciated for Alex and the babies that they can recover and get it not so strong.

Sweet.

A first grade teacher was studying the drawing of a family with her group.

In the drawing there was a boy that had a different hair color then the rest of the members of the family.

One of the kids in the group suggested that maybe the boy in the drawing was adopted.

So then, one of the girls in the group said:

“I know all about adoptions because I’m adopted”.

“What does it mean to be adopted?” asked another boy.

“It means –said the girl- that you grow in your mommy’s heart instead of in her tummy.”

Spring

Butterflies, birds, flowers...
The kids and I made a project last week of decorating their room/schoolroom like "Spring". It was great fun, and now it looks bright and happy.
It's a great entertainer for the children and it's not expensive, all you need is colorful papers or cardboard and a little bit of creativity. The birds hanging from the ceiling are their all time favourite.

Morelia

I finally got out and discovered I live in one of the most beautiful cities in Mexico.
Every Saturday night, the main street of down town gets closed off for a spectacular show of fireworks, music and lights as the cathedral slowly gets illuminated.

A little bit of history: the Cathedral took 84 years to build and is currently 263 years old.

"La danza de los viejitos", danza indigena tradicional del Estado de Michoacan.

"The Dance of the Old People", it's a traditional dance of the State of Michoacan.
People gather around to see this awesome dance performed with old man's masks, colorful sarapes and a unique way of tapping feet.

This little boy performed just as well as his elders and was so cute, he couldn't have been more then six years old.

El tranvia.

The kids couldn't get their eyes off; so many balloons!.

OOPS!

This is what I did to the van on my second driving lesson day. I'm posting a picture not because I'm proud of my accident but as a good reminder to Stop, Look and Listen or...
in any case it's a good quote for me and one that never gets old.

@ vaccines

I’ve been thinking about vaccines lately.

It seams to be a hot topic in the world today specially among doctors. I’m glad I don’t live in Europe because I’m sure I would get a lot more negative social pressure on the topic and, most likely, be accused of being a negligent mother.

I remember when I started going to secular school, at the age of 8, I had to get all my shots, I had none before that, but it was mandatory; or I would be putting all the other students at risk. So get them I did. I got pretty sick for a week or so.

I only started thinking about this because when my daughter was two weeks old I realized one of her clavicles wasn’t right, so I had to first take her to the pediatrician and then to a specialist, another doctor. It turned out her clavicle was broken, most likely from the birth. But, here comes what I want to share with you dear reader, when I took her to the pediatrician he was very much in shock that I hadn’t taken her in to get vaccinated for any of the deceases they have vaccines now a days. He ended up giving me a big lecture on the issue; advocating the benefits of this modern day advance. If I had to summarize in a thought what he said it would go something like this: Maybe for other country that’s ok but you better be very sure about your decision of not vaccinating your kids, you live in Mexico, are you aware of what kind of risks you are taking?. I confess I was caught off guard and presented a not very convincing argument on the matter.

I know Mexico is considered a third world country were a lot of sicknesses like tuberculosis, polio, etc aren’t eradicated still.

During the Christmas Season one of our CTP’s, that we named, Los Angeles de la Noche, involved going to the Children’s Hospital at night to pass out warm tea, coffee and sweet bread, as well as giving them blankets, warm clothing and praying with the parents and families that were staying outside, in the best of cases living in their cars while their son or daughter is getting medical treatment sometimes for a few days, weeks, or even months. Most of the people we met live in little communities and ranchos that are far from everything else, so the parents bring their other kids along and do what they can to survive while they wait; since they can’t afford to make the trip back and forth.

This one simple couple we met had sold their only cow to be able to afford coming to the capital to bring in their son. Most people sleep outside of the hospital on card boards and other things they find in the garbage. One lady I personally spend some time with was there because her ten year old daughter had lupus. It was quite a heart breaking experience, nothing like having one of your children sick to make you really desperate. The reason I got into this is because it was there and then that I learned that there are a lot of deceases that are still very much circulating which I thought were controlled or no longer existent. A bit of an eye opener if you will, it’s easy to take for granted the Lord’s supernatural protection when you’ve always had it.

To add to that a couple days ago going for get out I met a girl about eleven that had a crippled leg, she fell in the park and hit her head on the slide so I prayed with her I ended up befriending her mom and it turned out they were cristians and that she had had meningitis as a baby and that’s why her leg was like that.

And I thought after, could a vaccine have prevented that?

I have researched the Word about it. None of my children have ever been vaccinated and I know the Lord is our best Protector, but I would like to know what other parents think about vaccines, so if you have any imput or thoughts on the matter please feel free to share them and leave a comment.

Happy Bithday Marie!

Ali singing:

Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Bithday dear Marie,
Happy Birthday to you.!

Well, well I almost thought I wasn't going to be able to post for your Birthday! After uploading the baby picures it wasn't allowing me to upload anything else...so I hope nows it works...if you see your pretty face in my blog is because it worked.
I was thinking of scanning one of those older pictures where we both look terribly bad, but I thought you might not like that and pretty much everything was closed today...maybe another time.
The truth is, girl, that I really love you, I now I'm lousy at showing it (note to self: must work on that). You were my first Family friend that I remember. I think what I appreciate about you the most is your honest opinion on things, you won't tell me what I want to hear but you'll tell me the truth...amd I love you all the more for it.
I whish you the best year yet, and pray you find the perfect place and fulfillment in His will. Stay faithful, loving and beautifull. Happy Birthday!.

One month old.

My little angel is a month old. She's pretty active and stays awake for long periods of time. She's a good eater and is gaining weight quite fast. She loves people touching her hair and very much dislikes kids(ahem...roudy brothers) jumping on the same bed she's sleeping. I've noticed her skin is very sensitive and right she has a rash on her face, cheeks specially, that's why she looks a little red. I'm still giving her sun baths because she's still a little yellow, though most of it is gone.TTL!

Sleeping.
Making funny faces.
Looking out the window.
Enough pictures already.

Easter Week

The kids finished school this week and finally caught up on correcting their work and finishing what they had to accomplish for the month according to their year curriculum. They got a bit behind because I had the baby. I’m glad their pretty much up to date now. They deserve some vacations, they’ve been working hard.

We’re going to have some days off this next week, I’m looking forward to that, I feel spent.

just to enjoy fellowship, go slow, have extra word, have some home outings together, spend time with the kids and have some meetings. Everyone needs a brake sometimes!

Feels weird to be the first one down stairs, since I’m usually almost the last one for breakfast in the mornings, and I whish it was because I sleep but reality is it takes me a while to get the four of us dress, go through the changing diaper routine, potty time, make three beds and leave the room semi tidy…regardless of 'sleep in mornings' or not the kids always wake up at the same time.

I’m still struggling on how to manage with the new addition…I guess I’ll get the hang eventually. I’m happy I’m not having as many retarded feelings any more.

On a different subject, my husband is coming home next week.

And since it’s Easter I’ve been spending more time with my kids in the afternoons which is nice, I took them out witnessing a couple times to the park, we took some tracks along and talked to people, Alex really enjoys it, I need to teach him the salvation prayer. Having the three little guys along is a great conversation starter…which turns out to be a witnessing opportunity.

Happy Easter Week everyone, remember to thank our Heavenly Father for making the greatest sacrifice of all; sacrificing His son that we may all have life and not just life …. but life abundant!

Ines.

Happy Birthday to my older sister!!!.

I could say so much about you, I don't even know where to start.

I think the one thing I admire the most about my sister is her determination and inner strength to keep on fighting when things are beyond difficult. It's a kind of courage you don't see. I quiet faith that's not easily discouraged but that's steady and constant no matter what.

I remember something very sweet she did for me once. When I was like thirteen or fourteen I had this huge complex about having the biggest, most enormous nose in the face of the planet, so my dear sister, being the skilled writer she is, wrote me this beautiful poem-story about this girl that had a big nose but was still beautiful in the inside... all in hopes of trying to make me feel better and overcome my complex. Such a thoughtful thing to do ...I think it worked!..hah!... I have a lot of other shared memories but that particular one popped in my mind as I sat here.

Even though we walk through different paths right now, my heartfelt prayers and thoughts will always be with you. I whish you the best of years, I'm confident it will be one full of blessings in many ways. Happy Birthday! I love you.

First and Last

I remember reading somewhere that you should do something new everyday.

I did a "first and last" today, does that count?... a sweet person in the home gave the kids some capuccino chocolate as a shinner prize. Since it was already late afternoon and I didn't want them to spoil their dinner apetite, I told them they could have their treat after dinner. By eleven at night I was really regreting it. I don't know if it was the sugar rush, the chocolate or the capuccino....whatever it was it got transformed into an amazing rush of energy by my bouncing jungle monkeys. So that would be the first and last time I do such a thing. I treasure my couple hours of quietness in the evenings.
